Jasper Jerome Sweet

Jasper Jerome Sweet passed on May 4, 2024. He was a retired Painting Contractor and owner of Jasper Painting Service. Jasper Painting Service would grow to become one of the largest black owned painting contracting businesses in Miami Dade County. Jasper was certified as a minority contractor with the government and successfully bid on contracts to paint airports, lighthouses, court houses, military bases and so much more. Jasper Painting service was a respected business in the community that provided jobs to many of the area residents and became a staple of the community. With his signature look of a "White Jumpsuit and Sailor Cap" Jasper took on projects that were unheard of and gave opportunities to young contractors while simultaneously fighting for other minority contractors to get a fair share of work. In 1999, Jasper turns the reigns of Jasper Painting Service to his son Eric. Jasper Enterprises, Inc. now a second-generation painting company is still thriving with projects that include 40 story high rises, school board contracts and contract work that spans from South Florida to Virginia. Jasper Enterprises success is an homage to the legacy that still bears the name "Jasper". He will be sadly missed by all who knew, loved, and respected him. Please leave the family a note of condolence, light a candle of remembrance, or order a floral piece. May these words sustain those who are burdened with sorrow: "My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word." Psalm 119:28
