Hallandale Beach, Florida
Sandra Harris was born on June 4, 1971, in Hollywood, Florida, to Gracie Taylor-Cooper and Willie J. Cooper Jr. She
attended the local schools of Broward County and graduated from Hallandale High School, Class of 1989.
Following graduation, Sandra began working as a Health Unit Coordinator at Memorial Regional Hospital. She later
pursued her interest in beauty, graduated from beauty school, and became a licensed cosmetologist. In 2000 and 2001, she
worked as a cashier at the Hollywood Greyhound Track. Sandra's entrepreneurial spirit also led her to launch a cleaning
business. She later worked for several years at the Broward County Library in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
Sandra's love for children eventually led her to launch her family childcare service in Dania Beach. She always strived
for excellence in everything she pursued and continued operating her childcare program until her illness prevented her
from doing so.
Sandra's Christian foundation began at Greater Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church during her early elementary years. She later
became a faithful and active member of the church, singing in the choir for several years and serving as a Trustee for more
than four years. Sandra was also a faithful member of Bible Discovery Hour, the church's Sunday School, and faithfully
attended Thursday Bible Study by telephone. Her favorite Bible scripture was Psalm 23, and her favorite gospel song was
"Blessed Assurance."
Sandra was outspoken, funny, independent, strong-minded, loving, and generous. She always wanted to know what was
going on, not simply out of curiosity, but because she wanted to know how she could help if needed. Sandra was loved by
many and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Sandra loved reading books and was in the process of writing a book of her own. She also enjoyed sharing recipes with
family and friends. Her determination, caring spirit, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on those whose
lives she touched.
